Clasping pepperweed is a very mild green but it also offers a great pepper alternative. You can collect and grind the seeds just like black pepper or even just eat them whole as a seasoning. The leaves are small and so it is not a plant you will use to make an entire salad but it has a very mild taste and so it is a good one to add.
The leaves are heart shaped and wrap or "clasp" around the stem, thus the name. I have seen these with leaves as little as a quarter of an inch or as big as about an inch.
