Come learn about identifying the wild edible and medicinal plants in the Utah desert. Eat a sego lily like our Utah pioneers or taste a few of the many other plants available if you like. Take lots of notes and photos and learn about the value of the plants that grow in the desert. I was stunned when I first started learning about edible plants at how many there were growing in the desert!
Hands on training is the most effective way to learn about anything really, but identifying edible and medicinal plants is no different. Each plant you will see has variations from soil conditions and at different times of it’s life. Getting out to see them in person (or plant?) on a plant tour will allow you to see these plants in the different stages. This way you will know how to identify them at any stage of their life cycle and in a variety of conditions.
